Heyyy so here’s one of my new songs. Working on stuff with a band at the moment which is super exciting but I’ve some fun new songs and stuff to post up here, here’s one.. I hope you like it :)
I’m away into the wild
Humbled, eyes wide, I’m a child
Lost between these boneless wooden arms
Crying out for help? Crawling towards the sun?
Some bent like giant cradling mothers
I’m a baby in our lovely womb
Naked in our echoing decadent room
Eyes wide at the centre of an atom
That one almighty artist
With not a single gallery but a billion tributes
Not a pattern or a picture or a poem was not her idea
Unfolding the gratitude I had tucked in my pocket
In awe, with pride, in fear
So lucky, so lucky to live here.
Whilst I was away in Sydney we found a great little abandoned warehouse… so I sang a song in it :) Check it out!
Here’s another track from the Calls Landing/Opie Deino EP Split.. I wrote it a while back, I hope you like it!
Where better to post cheesy poems you wrote whilst you were on holiday? Just thought I’d stick this up here, ‘cause you know, this space is for my creative stuff. I write tons of poems and I never show anyone so be nice!
Esperence
I woke up alone to a gentle affection,
A tie dye horizon bleeding out her perfection,
A thousand sweet kisses pushed the sun out of bed,
kept warm, the moon relished, arms wide, legs spread,
a fuschia persuasion, the moon took the covers,
parted way with the day like they were old assured lovers,
stepped aside,
gave her room to dance
to colour the world in
to soften hard places
to brighten the palet
to find the snails traces
to rouse song from the trees
and smiles from our faces
for she is an artist,
and he; simply caring,
chasing her tail,
without being overbearing,
and when she resides he is glowing with pride,
rocking her children with the lull of the tide.
Homeward bound and feeling inspired. Watch this space :)
A really lovely review type thing a chap called Danny wrote today!
So, recently I moved to Leeds and wow…culture shock. The culture, despite being only 20 minutes away from Bradford is absolutely different. Street performers are ripe and I want to talk about one who I was lucky enough to have a quick chat with today, Opie Deino.
She is a soulful…
I Don’t often post things non-music related because that’s essentially what I made this blog for, but this is a must-see. Freedom of speech should be paramount.
MUST SEE VIDEO: I am reposting this short (8 min) for the third time because it beautifully contrasts the formal U.S. response to protecting freedom of speech and right to assembly abroad, while remaining silent on the police brutality against students here in the United States.
It is noteworthy that the violence shown in this video - images that were shocking when they first came out 6 weeks ago - have since been eclipsed by the images of escalating violence by U.S. police against the protesters in the past few weeks: the fractured skull of Iraq War vet Scott Olsen, the pepper-spraying of 84 year old Dorli Rainey and the UC Davis students, and the NYPD’s running over protesters with motorcycles and beating them with batons.
This is what a police state looks like.
President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton, where are you?
